Abdullah Daniel Hernandez, 28, native of Puerto Rico, left, speaks in Spanish to perspective converts during a class at the Islamic Educational Center of North Hudson. Hernandez used to be a gang leader and while in jail he decided to turn his life around. In September 1999 he converted to Islam and now is studying to be an Imam or spiritual leader at the Institute of Azhar University in Egypt.
